The Spot

Forest park and Victory field is always my hang out spot because I live around and I used to practice there when I was in track team in my high school. Today, me and my friend went to the old spot, we called it the “abandoned railroad.” This is the spot where everyone in my high school would mostly go and hang around.

The photo above was the first time going there with my friend, Melissa. Funny story was that my friend and I actually got lost in the forest and couldn’t find this spot. When we were planning on leaving, we found the route to get to the railroad. This picture was taken when I just graduated from high school.

Today me and my friend, Joseph, randomly went back here, and I think it would be a good chance to take a photo with the same posture. This time we didn’t get lost going to the spot, but we got lost on our way out LOL No matter I am graduated from high school or not, this park is and will always be the great spot hanging out with my friends and workout.

I also had a photo shoot one time during winter with my friend, Axel. I wore the wrong pair of shoes that day, and it wasn’t fun. It still had snow everywhere, and it was hard to walk. However, I love the photos we got that day, especially we went around the time when the sun was setting.

My film photography journey

Soooo, I was looking back the photos I took using film camera, and they remind me of the first picture I ever taken using a film camera. My friend Kevin was the person who taught me how to use a film camera. There’s a scale in the viewfinder. All you need to do is adjust the aperture and shutter speed in order to make the “needle” stay in the middle of the scale. It mean it’s at the right exposure.

This is the first picture I took using a film camera. Later on, I asked my uncle to borrow his film camera to me, and this is how I start my film photography  journey lol I really love the texture of the pictures, it’s so raw and it’s something digital camera can’t give you. Of course you can edit your picture and make it look grainy but it’s different. Also, film photography is always giving me surprise because I don’t remember what I have taken most of the time, and the photos only be revealed when you develop and scan them.

I will post more photos in the future and the stories behind them, so stay tuned!

Beanz and Coolman

Last Saturday I went to a pop-up store at  368 Broadway, and it’s owned by Casey Neistat

This event is organized by two main artists: Harry Hambley and Danny Casale

I know Harry Hambley through the sticker on Instagram. The character he created is called Bean (the pink guy at the right). His instagram page usually post the little comics and most of them are so related to our real life.

And Danny created many different characters. I know him from Facebook videos. The one I love the most is “Snakes have legs.” I love his videos because they are funny, it’s stupid but it’s funny lol

I am excited to know that they collaborate with each other and having an event in NYC. The pop-up store opened at 2-6pm, and they provided free coffee. There’s many decorations in the store which allowed people to take pictures with. They also sell their merch. I am glad that I can see both of the artists and tell them how much I like their works. It’s not easy to create a character and be famous from it. I think their humor also a big part why they are famous. Also, the people who went to the pop-up store were so nice. You can just talk to a random person and you can start a whole conversation with them. I remember my friend and I was talking with a guy in the store, we talked about tattoos, and he just show us his tattoos.

Here are some pictures I took in the event.

Sweet moment ☕️

The weather during spring break was horrible. It’s raining and cloudy all the time, so I barely went out.

On Sunday, me and my friend went to Chinatown because we been staying in the house for so long and we wanted to go somewhere. There’s a cafe called “Sweet Moment,” and the food over there is really cute. I ordered a strawberry matcha waffles and a red velvet milk tea.  They were tasty!!!

Then we just walked around and walked to SOHO. It’s my friend’s first time to go to Chinatown, so I showed her around. It’s a fun day, and that’s the only day I actually hung out during this break.

In the Dark

Recently, I keep listening to one song. It’s by Joji named “Slow Dance In The Dark.”

Joji used to be a famous Youtuber, and he always do some weird stuffs on his channel. I don’t really like his videos because I always think he is promoting some kind of weird message. Maybe his jokes are too dark? IDK

But holy shxt, once he announced he will not produce any videos and start becoming a singer, I didn’t give any hope because I think he will sing some genres which will sound strange. I changed my thoughts after hearing this song, and it’s amazing.

The song and the music video create a depressing mood. I like to listen to it when I am laying on my bed and just put on my headphones. It’s a good decision for him to be a singer because he is really talented, and he has a good voice.

Being Late=irresponsible⌚️

Let me give out some background stories…

Basically I have started working with my professor for some research this semester. I got my training and courses done, so I can collect data on my own.

This research lasts three days per participant, so they need to come for three days straight to the lab.

Last week, we got one participant who was late for three days. His appointment was 1 – 2 pm. However, he got to the room at 1:45pm. We have told him to be on time the next day, and said he will. However, he is one dat later than the other.

As the result, we had to cancel his appointment and gave him partial credits.

To be honest, we would hope you to be on time to our lab is because we have tight schedule. I think in every situation in general. Being on time means you are responsible in a time manner and respecting other people’s time.  Being late for 3 days straight is really ridiculous.

I still remember he told me that he usually go out this time because his class is at 2. Ummm….. If our appointment is at 1 pm, should you be leaving your house one hour earlier then?

Hopefully this case won’t happen in any participants in the future.

Spring is here 🌸

Last Saturday, me and my friend went to Flushing Meadows-Corona Park to see cherry blossom. Those trees were al around the globe (best place to take pictures with). He and I picked a tree and dropped our stuffs. Ready to shoot.

I brought my tripod also, so I was able to remote my camera using my phone. We can take group pictures without asking other people. The app for canon cameras is amazing, I was able to see the position of where I was standing through the screen, and I can tap on the places I want it to focus on.

These are the pictures I was satisfied with, and I hope you guys like them.

Feeling lost…

I have been feeling lost for a while.

It’s like I am making things more complicated than it should be. I always think how others see me, but how am I see myself? Do I even know myself?

I am scared of getting hurt, I am scared that I get used again. But what if I just assuming people are using me when they are not?

What if I depend on people so much and I forgot to actually take care of myself?

Should I even talk to him? How does he see me? Does he miss me? What if I just overthink? What should I do? Do I need to care how others see me? There’s so many questions in my head right now.

Can someone even help me? Or do I need to figure it out on my own no matter what?

I feel like a mess, I am a mess.

Visiting Andy Warhol

Last Saturday I went to Whitney Museum of American Art with my friend Michael. Since the exhibition of Andy Warhol is closing on Sunday, we went there to catch the last moment.

It was a really good day to go out because the weather was really nice, the only bad thing was too windy that day. Especially the museum is near the sea, my hair was all mess when I was out. It was really packed that day because everyone wanted to see Andy Warhol’s art. We still got to take some nice pictures with Andy Warhol’s art.

I really love going to museums, I guess it’s because I like the atmosphere and people in the museums. Everyone are dressing up nice and having different thoughts about the same piece of art. It’s just interesting. Also, science museums are also fun to go because I get to learn about something around us, such as land form, space, animals, etc. The interior design of museums are also one thing to be appreciated with. Everything are so organized, and each object in the museum is having its own space and spotlight.

Hope you enjoy the photos I took 🙂

My first collaboration

This was my first collaboration with my friend, Peter. I met him from my PSY 319 class (cognitive psych) last semester. One day, I saw him posting a story on Instagram asking for a photographer in NYC. I hit him up immediately.

We talked about some ideas, and I showed him some examples to see if he likes it. We went to Dumbo and York Street train station to get this shoot done. It was really fun to help my friend and the result came out nicely.

He was happy with the pictures, which I was happy to hear 😄

I am looking forward for more collaborations with my friends or any talented artists. I can practice more in photography and hopefully I will improve sooner.
